What a wonderful year with Lux aka Baby...

How time flies, Lux has been with us with for a year, and 1 year filled with wonderful memories together. She's a big girl now, and a pretty girl too :) Here are some shots from her earlier days with us. haha... this bowl is mine, all mine....

This shot was taken the first few days at our new home. The other bun is Max. But sadly Max only spent 9 days together with us. It really broke my heart to see Max go. Sniff... sniff... :'(

Week 2 with us, wanna sleep la...

Week 3, this spot is good for relaxing

Week 4, hiding under our coffee table

Can't see eye to eye
Week 7, we brought Broc to our home. Lux was being quite aggresive towards the little one. Another heart break, Broc was only with us for 2 weeks, waaaaa.... :'( After 2 heart breaks, quite apprehensive to get another bunny. It's just too much pain.

Our first Christmas together, I wanna be a Santa bunny... but am having a sore toe :(

Happy Birthday to Us !!!

September seems to be the birthday month for the 3 of us at home, Chong, Lux and myself. My sis, Audrey is just guessing that Lux was born in Sept also. She came to our home on Oct 2 last year, as a little baby and now look how much she has grown. I would say, she has filled our home with lots of fun and laughter. Will share more stories later...

Here's our birthday shot together. I love this shot :) haha... Happy Birthday to the 3 of us.

Manicure for buns, my first attempt

I have read on how to trim buns nails but never had the guts to do it myself. All this while, I got the vet to trim Lux's long nails. The vet actually recommended me to get one of the nail cutters for cats will do the job. I could still remember the last trip to the vet, where I got the vet to trim her nails, Lux was really annoyed with the vet hahaha...
The manicure tool, it's a pity they don't have specially just for buns ...

I was feeling very stressed out studying for my exams last week, and decided to take some time off to play with Lux. I got her into a relaxed mode, and that's when the thought of trimming her nails came into my mind cause I noticed she was starting to have the habit of keep biting her nails again (I guess annoyed with the long claws). I checked her nails, the ones at the front paws seems to be quite long. Slowly, I inspected her nails and talked softly to her (not sure whether she understood what I was trying to tell her :P), and trimmed them a little. Surprisingly, she did not struggle and just let me do the job. What a good girl, Lux baby :) I guess she trust mummy to trim her nails now.

What a scare...

It was a nice weekend back at the kampung. As usual, Lux would crawl into her carrier by herself for our trip back. It seems to be a natural thing for her now if her favourite blue cloth is inside there :) This trip, Lux was such a good girl. Just quietly enjoying her ride home, only doing her scratching claw business once throughout the journey unlike previous trips home where she was practically annoyed throughout the journey.

We reached home around 8 pm yesterday night, and the poor thing was quite tired from the trip. Immediately I let her out of her carrier and she hopped back into her cage and started eating the hay vigourously. I guess she must be very hungry. After a few hours I noticed, there was no poo or pee from her, and started to get worried but she was still busy enjoying her hay. I begin to wonder, all the eating and no poo? This doesn't look too good. Before I went to bed around midnight, I checked on her again, finished her hay and I had to put in more hay for her, but still no poo. I was getting very worried, I tried feeling her tummy to see whether it was bloated, cause that's what happened to Max previously (Max and Lux came together to my new home previously). Her tummy seems ok, not bloated at all. I decided to go to bed, but couldn't really sleep because of this. I woke up some time around 3 am to check on her. Any poo? Only 2!! Then I stroked her, and she just enjoyed the company and wanted to play. I was thinking to myself, are you ok or not?

Went back to sleep, and woke up around 6+ am, this time I heard some poo sound from the cage, and I felt relieved. I let her out for her usual morning run, and she was so happy running around and that was really a relief. Silly me, getting all worked out over this. Here's Lux, (these pictures were taken about 2 hours ago) feeling happy and relaxed, and posing for me :)
Feeling so lazy after dinner

Mummy, am I pretty or am I naughty? ;)

Some recent poses, starring Lux the bun

Here are a few recent photos taken of Lux in different poses which I thought I would like to share just for general viewing. Enjoy :)

Am not looking at the camera this time, oh come on, give me some privacy pleeease... No lenses allowed!!

Am trying to blend with my carrier's colour, see our colours do match :) Am not hiding ok??

Aww... my favourite blue shirt accompanying me in my nap. Feels so nice.

Who said bunnies don't need a blanky to keep warm? It's kinda cold these days.

Oh mummy, I love this carrot, I am well behaved and should get a bigger piece than that.

Now look here, I am the leader of this area, all of you have to shower me with my favourite show rabbit pellet and unlimited supply of western timothy hay, I only accept the ones from oxbow, hehehehe...

Molting season is back

I could still remember when Lux had her first molt which was back in Feb, I didn't know what it was and was wondering, why was she shedding fur like nobody's business, hahaha... Lux baby, that goes to show how lack of knowledge your mummy is in bringing you up :). I first heard the term "molting" from my friend Mei Leng when I told her about Lux shedding lots of fur. She recommended me the furminator, but this product is not found in Malaysia. I remembered we took Lux back to the kampung during CNY and my mum was complaining so much fur flying all over the place. Sorry mum, Lux just couldn't help it :P

This time round, I decided to make an effort to be more prepared for the molting season. I asked my friend Tim, what should I use and he suggested a slicker brush. Uh, I was like, what is a slicker brush ah?, hahaha another terminology that baffled me. Haha, how embarrassing, I never even groom Lux baby to be honest. And I dunno how do you actually groom your bun, cause all this while, I thought Lux baby's fur was nice looking, how silly, LOL. I went to Pet Lover at Sunway Pyramid last Sunday and decided to invest in a slicker brush. Here you go, that's how it looks like.

I bought the brush and went home. Was so eager to start my grooming or brushing session with Lux. It was still bright in the afternoon, say around 3pm+ and Lux was in her usual sleepy mode at that time. I went to her with the brush and started brushing her. Oh dear, she was mad at me. In her half awake look, she thumped her foot in protest, like saying, "Mum, do you mind, it's my nap time now!! Stop messing my fur". I was like "oops, sorry baby, got you at the wrong time".

I delayed my attempt till evening after her meals and started working on her with the brush. This time she just lied quietly and let me do the job. Got lots of fur brushed out. Been doing this for a few days, to prevent her from eating too much of her own fur which can be fatal. Here's her look after lots of brushing. Looks messy still. Anyway, you'll have nice new fur when all this is over :)
Do I look better now or what?? This brushing thingy is very annoying ... :)

Lux and her Pipes

I could still remember, when we first got Lux , CH did think of making the place nice for the bun. And he thought of play things for it as well. He got PVC pipes. I could still remember, Lux will run in and out of the pipes, or occassionally just lie inside there to relax.
Eh, am halfway getting in, is it safe in there??

Hmm... I wonder what's on top of this thing, looks foreign to me...

This thing is kinda cool, I kinda like it, smells good :)
Am going to take a break in here...

But with her size now of 1.9kg (what a big girl now :P), there was one morning where I tried to coax her to play inside the pipe, she gave me the look like saying "Mum, you can't expect me to run in there now", she avoided me and ran off :)

The look of sheer contentment

This is Lux, after running and playing, she just goes to a quiet place to take a nap. She looks so happy even in her sleep :) I have seen her in this pose a few times and decided to snap this pose last week.

My upcoming small project

I don't remember having green fingers as a child. Usually all the gardening was done by Mum and Dad. I will be just around helping out but not knowing how the actual thing was done. I decided to get 2 packs of seeds from Giant - one of my favourite veggie the ladies finger and french beans (kacang buncis, I would have preferred kacang buncis kecil is also one of my favourites, but couldn't find the seed for it).

I have started preparing the soil, with some help from my baby Lux. I have dumped her droppings on this plot of soil hopefully to turn it fertile. Will most likely start this mini project in a few days time and see how things go. Wish me luck :)

JCS On the Prowl 4 Hunt

I haven't been blogging on treasure hunting for quite a while, but thought I may just drop a few words for today's hunt. As mentioned by the COC, Pava it was supposed to be A "simple" straight forward hunt without frills and games just fun and mid challenges. The word "simple" there tends to be very misleading. Our team were struggling throughout the hunt. Overall, all route questions were answered by either one team or another. Only one treasure question was unanswered. It was a good hunt. Thanks Pava :)

We were rather dejected after the hunt due to this hunt's difficulty and the time constraint. There was no penalty window provided, therefore once you missed the stipulated submission time, you are deemed disqualified. The results were unexpected. 2 Sneakies + 2 Innocents won again, out of our expectation, really unbelievable for us :)

The unsolved treasure

T: Please bring in this edible item which describes "Senior Blooms"
A: Ricola Elderflowers

Honestly speaking, I haven't even seen this product myself. So I decided to go to Giant for dinner just now, spotted this treasure immediately and decided to buy it, just for the fun of it. But my guess is, this product must be quite old (due to the expiry date for this product is July 2010). According to another team, they knew about this product but it was nowhere to be found.

My CNY gift from Daddy - a handmade American Bowie

Daddy has been making knives as a hobby for quite some time now. And I have to admit, his hand work is really good now. It takes a lot of time and patience to make a knife. I received a hand made American Bowie knife from daddy during CNY. If you could see the actual knife, it is a real beauty :) Am proud of you daddy.

The American Bowie, a useful hunting knife. Notice the brand "Katz Handmade".

Teh Si - but a furry one

Hey Kim, as promised am publishing your darling cat. Here are some of the shots you took while I was in Penang two months back. This is Teh Si, my sister's cat back in Penang. She's a well-behaved and gentle kitty.

This sofa is so comfy... what is it made of?

But the cold floor is good too... so relaxing :) Pat me please, meowww... I have been a good cat

The Story of The Old Blue Shirt

This is Lux, enjoying her time with her favourite old blue shirt. I got a feeling Lux likes blue colour. She's not really attracted to other cloths that we had previously.
I love blue...

DND, I am busy with my blue shirt

I wanna flip this cloth

I am really busy... will get back to you later Are we going for a trip again??
Lux dreads going into the carrier when we travel outstation. But with the blue cloth inside, she just automatically runs in to play with it :P

Cardboard Boxes

Lux loves biting and chewing on almost anything, especially newspapers and cardboard boxes. Look at the joy of biting and tearing the box :)

Hmm... this smells good...

Yum... and taste so good too...

I am really enjoying myself, cardboard never tasted so.... good :)

There's something new in her biting collection, her favourite old blue shirt. More to come in future postings.

Grooming

One of the common activities Lux does in a day is to groom herself. If she's not eating or sleeping, she will be grooming herself. I guess they are very meticulous animals in keeping clean. But the funny thing is, her paw is kind of dirty looking and she keeps using it to clean her face and ears. So how does that equate to keeping clean... hehehe...
Cleaning my right foot

Do I look cute??

Cleaning my left foot now...

Bun with an attitude

Looking at this photo, you would probably think, awww... what an adorable bunny. Well, Lux is our darling there's no doubt on that. She never fails to "entertain" us with her various characters.

Let's start with last Friday night...I noticed there was some mosquitoes outside, and not wanting Lux to be bitten, I took her in to sleep with me for the night. Both of us went to bed around 1+ am, lights off. So far so good... In the middle of the night, I felt kinda cold and decided to lower the speed of the fan. And guess what, once the fan was down, Lux started thumping her foot in protest. Oh no, not again, making noises, I decided to ignore her for a while, but there was still sound of protest from this little fella. So reluctantly, I had to wake up again to increase the speed of the fan. After that, all was well until morning.

It was already 7+ am in the morning, and Lux was making noises in a way to wake me up and waiting for food. Since it was Saturday morning, I tried to ignore her and continued sleeping till 8+. Woke up went to look at her, she was excited to see me, but once I opened the cage door, she showed me her angry face and thumped her foot once. It's like indirectly saying, "Wake up so late??, hungry la". I pat her gently on the head and she was ok. What a moody little fella. Gave her breakfast and she was happy again :)

Dead-Bunny Flop

I just learnt this new term a few weeks back from my friend Mei Leng who is also a bunny lover. I did see this stunt from Lux previously which really gave me a scare as she was not well at that time. After getting the explanation from Mei Leng, I was relief that it means my Lux bun is very relaxed :) Thanks Mei Leng for educating me more on buns.

It was kind of hard to get these snaps as I tried very hard to tip toe out to take these photos. The first few attempts ended up waking up Lux as I was trying to adjust the lens to a suitable angle which resulted in me banging the lens on the cage… how clumsy :)

This is what they call the dead-bunny flop which means that your bunny is very relaxed and comfortable in its own cage.

Third week with Lux

I can still remember, when Lux was much smaller, she had the habit of sitting in the bowl to eat or sleep, and at the same time, poo and pee on her own food. How silly is that :)

Here's a few snap shot (in sequence) of her hungry and searching through her bowl for pellets.

Am so hungry, what took you so long??

Where's the pellet?

Hah, found it, munch munch...

Ahh... that was good :)

Lux Baby

I haven't been blogging for almost a year. That goes to show how lazy I am and am not making any excuses for that. Anyway, I would just like to post some photos of my new found love, introducing Lux my bun, aka Baby!! My sis bought it for me as a gift back in October. Thanks Kim, we love Lux very much.

That's Lux about 2 weeks with us (approximately about 2-3 months old), back in October last year. The bowl is too big for me...

I wanna help make the mosquito net too :)

Am tired now, let me have a rest first...

More pictures and some stories in later postings...
